Where several hospitals are grouped under a central administration
it is possible to have a "master" Menumark and an unlimited number
of "satellite" systems. The satellites each have their own Menumark
but their data is transferred to the central system on a periodic
(usually daily) basis via the hospital Wide Area Network or over
the telephone lines. By this means, each hospital is able to produce
its individual results and the master Menumark can produce consolidated
results for the group as a whole. Maintenance of basic files is
limited to the master location but satellite systems are otherwise
fully functional.
